We take a tour of Long Island's oldest public observatory, the Custer Institute in Southold. The observatory was opened in 1927 by a group of amateur astronomers, and has been a non-profit educational corporation since 1942.

Stargazers can come and learn about astronomy through classes held at the institute and use the many telescopes to get a glimpse of the universe.
